England Hockey Safeguarding Guidance

All Counties are required to meet the following safeguarding requirements:

  • Adopt the England Hockey Safeguarding Policy
  • Have a named and trained Welfare Officer (Time To Listen)
  • Recruitment checks (including Disclosure and Barring Service) - all those recruited to work regularly with U18 must be assessed for suitability for this role, and this must include having a current DBS through England Hockey (current within last 3 years). This is a legal requirement and is essential for those involved in residential events
  • Report concerns - all concerns must be reported in line with EH reporting procedures
  • Education & Training - all those working with U18 must complete safeguarding training in accordance with EH guidance, every 3 years


For tours & overnight stays, greater safeguarding management is required which include:

  • Emergency contact details
  • Medical information
  • Responsibility of safeguarding whilst away
  • Identifying lead adults and having appropriate safeguard checks
